2026/27 Winter Sessional Lecturer Positions

The Department of Linguistics invites applications for sessional lecturers to teach in the 2026/27 academic year.

Winter Term 1 (September through December 2026):

  • LING 142 001 – Language and Technology – Lectures: 2 – 3:30 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays
  • LING 222 001 – Language Acquisition – Lectures: 11 – 12 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, TA-led tutorials on Fridays

Winter Term 2 (January through April 2027):

  • LING 209 002 – Clinical Topics in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences – Lectures: 1 – 2 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays
  • LING 311 002 – Studies in Phonology – Lectures: 2 – 3:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • LING 451 002 – Acquisition of Phonology – Lectures: 3:30 – 5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Applications must hold a PhD (or equivalent terminal degree), or have advanced to full candidacy by the application deadline. PhD candidates at UBC must have the authorization of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to teach as sessional lecturer. The settlement of any outstanding fees may be a precondition for such authorization. Appointments are subject to budgetary constraints. Salary depends on rank and experience.

  • Recent teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness; and
  • Contact details of two referees who can speak to your teaching effectiveness.
