About

I am a PhD student in the Department of Linguistics at the University of British Columbia, conducting research on Long-Distance Vowel Harmony in Ukaan, a language spoken across four communities in Nigeria. My work aims to apply Agreement-By-Correspondence theory within Optimality Theory—traditionally utilized to explain long-distance consonant harmony—to the unique case of long-distance vowel harmony in Ukaan. My primary research interests include Phonetics and Phonology, the Phonology-Syntax interface, and both field and theoretical linguistics.
