The Department of Linguistics invites applications for sessional lecturers to teach in the 2025/26 academic year.
Winter Term 1 (September through December 2025):
- LING 300 003 – Studies in Grammar – Lectures 3:30 – 5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, TA-led tutorials on Fridays
- LING 308 002 – The Languages of Africa – Lectures 3:30 – 5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays
- LING 560 001 – Managing and Preserving Linguistic Data – Lectures 2-5 PM on Thursdays
Winter Term 2 (January through April 2026):
- LING 300 004 – Studies in Grammar – Lectures 11-12:30 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, TA-led tutorials on Fridays
- LING 433 002 – Native Languages of the Americas – Lectures 6 – 9 PM on Mondays
Applications must hold a PhD (or equivalent terminal degree), or have advanced to full candidacy by the application deadline. PhD candidates at UBC must have the authorization of the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to teach as sessional lecturer. The settlement of any outstanding fees may be a precondition for such authorization. Appointments are subject to budgetary constraints. Salary depends on rank and experience.

- Recent teaching evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness; and
- Contact details of two referees who can speak to your teaching effectiveness.
