About

I’m interested in how children learn abstract word meanings and in the sociopragmatic cues that support semantic acquisition. In my dissertation, I’m examining a video corpus of child-directed speech to understand what behaviours co-occur with two abstract words and how this information is clustered statistically in children’s input. My other research focus is on sociolinguistics/sound change, and I have a particular interest in the role of children and adolescents in advancing linguistic changes.
