About

The focus of my research is to understand how linguistic processes are differentially applied across items within a language. Some linguistic processes are selective in their application, targeting specific items while excluding others. The applicability of these processes depends on latent class information, such as etymology, but speakers appear to determine when to apply or not apply the process effortlessly. This intriguing linguistic puzzle drives my investigation, where I explore how speakers make such decisions and whether machines can replicate this linguistic behaviour. As my research relies on systematic analyses of a corpus, I am also dedicated to developing and maintaining computer programs for corpus-based research. Additionally, I employ my coding skills to create simple apps that aid researchers in (Korean) linguists to automate mundane and repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on more meaningful work.
