Edna Dharmaratne Award goes to Nandita Pisharody Suresh

This year’s winner of the Edna Dharmaratne Award is Nandita Pisharody Suresh, a second-year major in Speech Sciences. The award committee was unanimously impressed with Nandita’s long-standing commitment to community, which includes volunteering to help with literacy skills both here in Vancouver and in her hometown of Gabarone, Botswana. Nandita has also been involved with various fundraising efforts and has been part of a program to help elementary school students develop a positive relationship with healthy food and cooking. Congratulations, Nandita, and we are so glad you are a part of our program!

The Dharmaratne Award is named after the linguistics department’s former head administrator, who served in that capacity from 1997 to 2017. Donations to the fund are always appreciated and especially welcome this year.
