Muhammad Abdul-Mageed has published a piece in Medium exploring how language use on social media reflects the impact of COVID-19 on daily life. It’s based on Mega-COV, a large dataset that he and collaborators at UBC constructed extending across 65 languages and 234 countries, and which builds the foundation for tracking changes in this area across time. More technical details in are available in the full paper.
