Anna Stacey wins the Edna Dharmaratne Award 2023

We are excited to announce that this year’s winner of the Edna Dharmaratne Award (https://linguistics.ubc.ca/undergraduate/funding/the-edna-dharmaratne-award-in-linguistics/) is Anna Stacey, a first-year MA student in Linguistics. The award is intended to recognize a student who not only has a good academic record but also has a commitment of volunteerism and service to others. Anna has excelled in her courses so far, but has also carved out time to volunteer at Sprouts Cafe, a student-led non-profit restaurant on campus that fights food insecurity by providing students low-cost, healthy meals prepared by fellow student volunteers. Anna also has a history (and a future!) in working for gender equality in STEM, both at the University of Manitoba and now at UBC. We’re so lucky to have you as part of our program, Anna — congratulations!
P.S.: This award is funded through donations. If you’re interested in contributing to future iterations of the award, you can do so here: https://donate.give.ubc.ca/page/68038/donate/1?transaction.dirgift=Edna%20Dharmaratne%20Award%20in%20Linguistics%20A0473
