Bryan Gick’s pioneering work uncovering the basic mechanisms of spoken language is remarkable for its originality, impact and breadth. He has made surprising discoveries in multimodal perception, advanced theories of movement control, developed applications for ultrasound imaging in language teaching and clinical intervention and co-developed ArtiSynth, the state-of-the-art biomechanical modelling platform for head/neck/ face simulation, applied in areas from surgical planning to telecommunications and computer animation.
Bryan Gick a fait œuvre de pionnier en révélant les mécanismes de base de la langue orale grâce à ses travaux originaux, influents et de large portée. Il a fait de surprenantes découvertes dans le domaine de la perception multimodale, a avancé des théories de contrôle du mouvement, a développé des applications d’imagerie par ultrason pour l’enseignement des langues et l’intervention clinique et a co-développé ArtiSynth, la plateforme de modélisation biomécanique dernier cri pour la simulation tête/cou/visage, utilisée dans la planification chirurgicale, les télécommunications et l’animation assistée par ordinateur.
