Galia Freiwirth wins Dharmaratne Award

Galia Freiwirth has been awarded the inaugural Edna Dharmaratne Award in Linguistics. The award recognizes students who embody a spirit of volunteerism and service. Galia is a Speech Sciences major in her fourth year. Here’s what curriculum review manager Wendy Trigg wrote about her:
For many years, she has been an active participant in volunteer programs in schools, libraries, community centres and clinics in her community. Galia embraces her outside commitments as enriching life experiences that enhance her ability to support the needs of others. Galia is equally dedicated to her studies and maintains an exceptional academic standing. Her goal is to become a speech-language pathologist, a career in which she will continue to serve others. Galia’s humbleness and appreciation of the opportunities she has had to help others, along with her desire to continue to do so, make her the ideal first recipient!
Congratulations, Galia!
