The UBC library website has a posted an extensive discussion of Wikipedia authorship class projects in Rose-Marie Déchaine’s undergraduate syntax course LING 300 (‘Studies in Grammar’). As one of two options for a final activity, students can contribute to Wikipedia entries relevant to the course material. This is done in consultation with Susan Atkey, the humanities reference librarian, and the Centre for Teaching and Learning Technology (CTLT).
The article highlights the special relevance of this sort of project at a time when instruction has temporarily become exclusively online, and its lasting significance as a means of connecting the university to the wider world.
