In case you are curious, the MDS-CL program is an intensive 10-month professional program, and the last course of the program is a 2-month (6 credit) project in which students work with an industry partner on a language related problem they would like to solve. One of the 2021 cohort groups, who worked on and completed their capstone projects in May-June 2022, worked on a project titled “Social Landslides: Improve NASA Global Landslide Catalog with Automated Social Media Mining” . This project was working with BGC Engineering Inc., an earth science consulting company with a strong interest in data science-driven engineering practices, and in collaboration with NASA data.
