We are delighted to share that Kaili Vesik and Kathleen Hall have published a paper titled “Improved Student Learning through Active Retrieval Practice and Random-Sampled Exams” in the Canadian Journal of Linguistics / Revue canadienne de linguistique.
The paper explores the benefits of active, effortful retrieval practice in effective learning. The authors:
- Provide a framework for fostering active study habits through practice and assessment.
- Share resources to implement this framework in linguistics classrooms.
- Evaluate its success in an introductory phonetics/phonology course.
