Language Sciences has organized Pithy Papers, a series of brief descriptions of recent research in Language Sciences at UBC. The inaugural installment features descriptions of work by Oksana Tkachman measuring degrees of conventionalization in sign languages and by Muhammad Abdul-Mageed on ‘micro-dialects’, pockets of language variation as small as cities.
