Heather Bliss, who graduated from the doctoral program in 2013 and is currently a lecturer at Simon Fraser University, has been selected to receive the Canadian Linguistic Association Early Career Researcher Award. In a statement announcing this decision, CLA past president Diane Massam noted her “important contributions in research across a number of subfields, including syntax, morphology, phonetics, and language documentation and revitalization” as well as her achievements in community engagement and language policy around Indigenous languages, especially Blackfoot.
