Doctoral program alumnus John Lyon has accepted an assistant professor position at UBC Okanagan in Indigenous Studies in the Department of Community, Culture and Global Studies. His 2013 dissertation was on the syntax and semantics of Okanagan Salish and was supervised by Henry Davis (chair), Lisa Matthewson, and Hotze Rullmann. This means John will be well-located to continue working on Salish. Henry describes this as a significant development for Salish linguistics more broadly, so congratulations are due to John, to his committee, and to Salish linguistics.
