Arian is a neurolinguist and phonetician with interests in speaker trait/state detection and speech motor control. He is currently a graduate research assistant studying under Dr. Bryan Gick in the Interdisciplinary Speech Research Laboratory. (ISRL).

Arian is the founder of the Speech and Neurological Disease (SaND) group, a component of the ISRL which investigates the effects of neurological disease (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease) on speech motor control, and the development of machine learning models for clinical detection.

• Understanding the role of muscle tone and posture in speech motor control.
