Teaching

Research

My research is primarily focused on the embodiment in L2 speech, investigating how bilinguals’ engagement with multiple languages is shaped by unique embodied communication mechanisms. This approach considers the integration of motor, sensory, and cognitive pathways, emphasizing that L1 and L2 speech differences stem from the physical and sensory experiences of language. This perspective aims to reveal the neural and physiological adaptability to bilingualism, exploring how these embodied experiences influence language proficiency and learning.

Supplementary to this focus, my work in cross-language speech articulation and acoustics underpins the empirical basis for understanding these embodied differences, examining specific articulatory behaviors across languages. Meanwhile, the study of articulation-acoustics mapping delves into how these physical speech production mechanisms translate into acoustic cues, shedding light on the perceptual aspects of bilingual communication.

Together, these themes form a cohesive research agenda that explores the complexity of bilingual speech from an embodied perspective, enhancing our comprehension of the cognitive and physical interplay in language use and acquisition.
