LSURC

The Language Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference (LSURC) is an annual conference held in Term 2 that brings together students from many different departments, all with a focus on language. This year’s conference will be held on February 8 & 9, 2019 at UBC’s Vancouver campus.

Our goal is to create an opportunity for students to explore, through the work of their peers, language and communication research with an interdisciplinary perspective. Any undergraduate student working on related topics are invited to apply, whether they are in Linguistics, Psychology, Computer Science, Applied Sciences, English, Language & Literacy Education, or any other field!

The Call for Papers is now open and will close November 30, 2018.

The theme for LSURC 2019 will be #global. We believe language is unique in that it both unites and diversifies the human race. Though there are innate ramifications due to language, affecting linguistic communities socially and politically, we acknowledge and stress the importance of sharing and gaining knowledge of language and communication through research. In celebrating these differences, we aim achieve to a better understanding of this intrinsic gift, through ourselves and others.
